As a cube dweller at a startup software company with options, I sometimes get a little stressed out. On a recent business trip, I took the time to reread Mike Daisey's 21 Dog Years: doing time @ amazon.com. Oddly enough, it has been retitled "21 Dog Years, a cube dweller's tale." While I am not at the stage to bail on my options, it is both interesting and scary to see certain parallels between my own situation and the one described in his excellent book.
I, too, have lived the life of a dilettante. This blog (while I was updating it, at least) should attest to that.
I came across Mike's blog this morning and was really enchanted by it. Random Pics, coupled with cool links and wry observations. I used to do that. I think I will use this and my impending surgery as a sign to take this up again.
Thanks, Mike! I wish I could see one of your shows, the L. Ron Hubbard sounds like it would be fantastic.
I have found it helpful to do the stretching exercises my physical therapist recommends. Do some core strengthening exercises, such as the ones highlighted at The Mayo Clinic. By keeping your core strong, your back won't put itself in a position to cause that sciatica pain you are having.

You were sick, but now you're well again, and there's work to do.
